Apex Microtechnology's SA303, 3 A, 60 V Three Phase Switching Amplifier IC

The SA303HU is a low cost, 3A (10A PEAK), 60V pulse width modulation (PWM) motor driver IC. As a monolithic, single-package solution, the SA303HU provides a high level of integration for driving brush-type DC motors in the market space between lower current devices and higher cost drivers operating on 400+ voltage supplies.

A seamless digital interface is possible with the SA303HU by partnering with either a MCU or DSP. Individual control of both the top side and the bottom side output FETs is allowed via direct signals from the processor.

Thermal and short circuit monitoring for the SA303HU is provided, which generates fault signals for the microcontroller to take appropriate action. Additionally, cycle-by-cycle current limit offers user programmable hardware protection independent of the microcontroller. Output current is measured using an innovative low loss technique.

The SA303HU is built using a multi-technology process that allows CMOS logic control and complementary DMOS output power devices on the same IC. Use of P-channel high side FETs enables the device’s 60V operation without the need for bootstrap or charge pump circuitry. Housed in a 44-pin HSOP package with integrated heat slug, the SA303HU provides balance between excellent thermal performance with the advantages of a low-profile surface mount package.

Variant Temp Range (°C) Package Option
